Brazil's Porto Itapoá has achieved another container milestone, handling 1 million TEUs in the first 10 months of 2024. This achievement translates into a new box volume record, mainly driven by the completion of the Phase III port expansion in the first half of the year. The Latin American port has increased the size of its yard to a capacity of 455,000 m2, the largest in Santa Catarina and one of the largest in Brazil. Additionally, the new infrastructure has boosted the annual container capacity to 1.8 million TEUs and the storage capacity to 31,000 TEUs. 'This expansion demonstrates our continued commitment to providing a more efficient service, with greater logistical capacity, and positions Porto Itapoá as a true giant in the port industry,' emphasized Ricardo Arten, CEO of Porto Itapoá.
