The Port of Rotterdam Authority will develop a 45-hectare terminal in the north-west Maasvlakte for offshore wind activities. The terminal will support storage, transport, pre-assembly, and delivery of turbine and foundation components.
It will have direct sea access, heavy-duty quays, and advanced logistics facilities. Interested companies can register for the market consultation starting today. The terminal is expected to be operational by mid-2029.
The site will feature 835 metres of quay for jack-up vessels and pre-assembly operations. A roll-on/roll-off facility will enable all modes of transport. The terminal will also support the decommissioning of offshore wind farms.
Matthijs van Doorn, Vice President Commercial, said: “This terminal will provide crucial capacity for the offshore wind sector. Its North Sea location, deep draught, and existing offshore cluster make Rotterdam ideal for these activities.”
The project aims to meet growing port demand and stimulate the offshore wind industry, supporting the transition to sustainable energy.
