The Port of Los Angeles handled 782,249 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in November, down 12% from last year’s unusually high volumes. Despite the slowdown, the Port has processed 9,447,731 TEUs so far in 2025, up 1% compared with 2024, with one month remaining in the year.

Port Executive Director Gene Seroka said the Port expects to surpass 10 million TEUs by year-end, placing 2025 among its top three cargo years on record.

“Even with ongoing trade uncertainty, cargo moved smoothly throughout the year,” Seroka said during a media briefing. “We saw no congestion and no vessel backups. That reliability reflects the hard work of our longshore labor, truckers, terminal operators, rail partners, and all stakeholders who keep the supply chain moving.”

Seroka added that this consistency is why more than 200,000 importers and exporters continue to choose the Port of Los Angeles each year, regardless of market conditions.

In November, loaded imports totaled 406,421 TEUs, an 11% decline year over year. Loaded exports reached 113,706 TEUs, down 8% from 2024. The Port also handled 262,122 empty containers, a 13% decrease compared to the same period last year.
