The Port of Long Beach is on course to post its busiest year ever in 2025. Early cargo movements ahead of new tariffs helped push volumes toward a new annual record, surpassing the 9.6 million containers handled in 2024.
In November, the port recorded its second-busiest month on record. Terminals moved 817,561 TEUs, down 7.5% from the November 2024 peak. Imports fell 7.5% to 400,505 TEUs. Exports declined 7.5% to 110,122 TEUs. Empty container movements dropped 8.2% to 306,934 TEUs.
Port officials said cargo flowed steadily throughout the month. Operations remained smooth, with no congestion or major disruptions, despite uncertainty caused by shifting trade policies in 2025.
Through the first 11 months of the year, the Port of Long Beach handled 9,047,477 TEUs. That represents a 2.9% increase compared with the same period last year.
Port leadership expects stable operations through year-end and anticipates a moderate increase in cargo volumes in 2026.
