The Port of Hueneme in California and the Port of Paita in Peru have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Sister Port relationship, aimed at deepening cooperation and promoting sustainable port development.

Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the initiative focuses on collaboration in port management, procurement transparency, and green energy projects.

A delegation from Peru will visit Port Hueneme on October 13, with an official MoU signing ceremony scheduled for October 14 at 4:30 p.m. at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum in Oxnard, California.

“The Sister Port relationship highlights our shared vision for global collaboration and expanding trade opportunities that benefit both regions,” said Kristin Decas, CEO and Director of the Port of Hueneme.

Eduardo Cerdeira, CEO of Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos, added: “This partnership goes beyond two ports—it’s a model for expanding trade routes and sharing knowledge to strengthen communities along the Pacific coast.”

The Sister Ports Program aims to foster innovation, improve connectivity, and open new avenues for trade between the U.S. and Peru.
