Port Houston has expressed strong support for the inclusion of US$161 million in the President’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget for the Houston Ship Channel Expansion – Project 11.

Additionally, the FY 2026 Operations and Maintenance budget allocates US$53.6 million to the Houston Ship Channel, which remains the top-ranked waterway in the United States.

These allocations build upon previous commitments, including $33 million for Project 11 construction and $98 million for O&M outlined in the US Army Corps of Engineers FY 2025 Workplan.

Port Houston Chairman Ric Campo extended his appreciation to all stakeholders, industry partners, Congressman Wesley Hunt, and the bipartisan delegation who contributed to this significant, long-term initiative.

Chairman Campo said that project 11 will sustain economic momentum and ensure Port Houston continues serving not only the local community but the entire nation.

Portions of Project 11 have already been completed and are delivering results. Daylight navigation restrictions have been shortened by up to two hours in both directions, improving efficiency and allowing for more two-way vessel traffic.

Port Houston is set to complete its remaining dredging work between Bayport and Barbours Cut Ship Channels later this summer. USACE will oversee the remaining segments, including the Barbours Cut area and the upper Turning Basin.

Full completion of Project 11 is anticipated by 2029.
