Pacific International Lines (PIL) has published its Sustainability Report 2024, highlighting progress in embedding sustainability into its operations, culture, and long-term strategy. The report outlines key achievements in fleet renewal, emissions reduction, renewable energy adoption, community engagement, and governance.

In his message, Mr. S.S. Teo, Executive Chairman, emphasized PIL’s ongoing investment in a lower-carbon future:
“Sustainability remains central to our mission. In 2024, we introduced the first two LNG dual-fuel 14,000 TEU container vessels – Kota Eagle and Kota Emerald – as part of our fleet renewal journey and commitment to environmental responsibility.”

Beyond shipping operations, PIL expanded its use of renewable energy. All electricity consumption in its Singapore headquarters and offices in China, Chile, Ghana, Dubai, and India was matched with local renewable energy certificates, reducing its GHG footprint in these regions.

PIL also strengthened its focus on people development. Through PIL Academy, employees gained access to new leadership, technical, and development programs, with annual training targets introduced to foster professional growth.

On governance, Mr. Lars Kastrup, CEO, highlighted the company’s ambitions for 2025:
“We are working towards full alignment with Zero Trust security principles and pursuing ISO 27001 certification, the gold standard for information security. These investments ensure we remain future-ready while upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability.”

The report also serves as PIL’s annual UN Global Compact (UNGC) Communication on Progress, reinforcing its commitment to the Ten Principles and its role in advancing sustainability in the maritime industry.

Full report is available at PIL’s official website.
