PD Ports Invests US$1.3 Million in New Bulk Tipper Trucks
PD Ports has significantly enhanced its bulk handling capabilities with a US$1.3 million investment in five specialized bulk tipper trucks. These new STAS Agrostar bulk tipper trailers, designed for efficiently handling challenging materials such as grain and powders, were delivered this summer, accompanied by five Volvo trucks. This strategic acquisition reinforces PD Ports' commitment to port-centric logistics, providing seamless, end-to-end services for all clients utilizing Tees Dock. To support the expanded fleet, PD Ports has hired an additional 10 drivers and provided further training for its existing transport team. The STAS trailers boast advanced safety and efficiency features, including an automatically controlled tailgate from the driver's cab and a double-hinge suspension for increased unloading clearance, minimizing damage. They are also equipped with wear-resistant floors, underbody vibrators to prevent material sticking, and a PM1155 weighing system for precise remote load weighing (within 10kg). This investment is part of a larger US$11 million upgrade at Tees Dock, which previously saw the addition of two 140-tonne Liebherr mobile harbour cranes, self-propelled hoppers, and additional load shovels, all contributing to faster vessel discharges and improved customer efficiency.
