The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) reported 257,705 TEUs in February, translating to a 13.7% growth over the same month last year.

NWSA representative said that a main driver is Trump’s announcement of upcoming tariffs, as shippers are now bringing orders forward to avoid expected additional fees and that continues to push strong volumes via the ports of Tacoma and Seattle, which are included in the port alliance.

NWSA said that full international imports increased 27.9%, marking a full year of consecutive month-over-month growth, and is 4.8% above the gateway’s five-year average for the month. Additionally, full international exports decreased by 7.7%.
