Noatum Maritime has strengthened its commitment to sustainable maritime operations through two key investments: the acquisition of the GCC’s first fully electric hydrofoiling pilot boat and the purchase of two all-electric tugboats.

These zero-emission vessels form a core part of Noatum Maritime’s broader decarbonisation strategy.

The region’s first 100% electric Artemis EF-12 Pilot boat represents a major leap in eco-friendly pilotage technology.

Powered by Artemis Technologies’ innovative eFoiler® system, the 12-metre vessel lifts its hull above the water’s surface to minimize drag, cutting energy consumption by up to 85% while boosting speed and performance.

In parallel, Noatum Maritime has introduced two Damen RSD-E Tug 2513 vessels to advance sustainable towage operations at Khalifa Port.

After the successful deployment of the first unit, recognized by Guinness World Records as the most powerful electric tugboat, Noatum has decided to fully integrate it into its fleet, with a second unit entering service in April 2025.

Their adoption is expected to significantly reduce port emissions while maintaining high levels of performance and cost efficiency.

Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime & Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, stated that the fully electric alternatives support customers’ sustainability goals and may help them unlock carbon credit opportunities.

Noatum Maritime is positioning itself as a leader in eco-conscious harbour operations, accelerating the shift toward cleaner, high-performance maritime solutions.
