Marine geoscience and offshore construction support player Next Geosolutions (NextGeo) has secured two new contracts worth a combined €20m ($23m) from Italian cabling giant Prysmian, securing long-term seabed work across European power transmission and wind energy projects.
The first contract involves route preparation for the Bay of Biscay HVDC interconnector, a subsea cable link between France and Spain. Operations are scheduled between 2025 and 2027.
The second contract covers geophysical and unexploded ordnance surveys in Dutch waters along the planned export cable routes for two major offshore wind zones: IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek 1. These works are expected to run between 2026 and 2027.
The Milan-listed company, part of Naples-based shipping group Marnavi, said the dual award strengthens its order book and underscores its growing role in supporting large-scale energy transition infrastructure.
“These two major contracts confirm both the strength of our positioning in the marine geoscience market,” stated NextGeo CEO Giovanni Ranieri, adding that the company’s involvement in complex, high-impact projects like the Bay of Biscay interconnector and Dutch offshore wind farm development allows it to bring full range of technical capabilities to support the safe and efficient rollout of critical energy networks.
Earlier this year, NextGeo also won a separate contract from Prysmian, valued at approximately €10m, to carry out UXO survey and clearance in German and Dutch waters. This project supports the NeuConnect Interconnector, a subsea cable system linking the UK and Germany.
