Nagoya Port posts third straight year of growth

The Port of Nagoya handled 2.64 million TEUs of foreign-trade containers in 2025. Volume rose 1.9% year on year, marking the third consecutive year of growth, according to the Nagoya Port Authority and as Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA) reoported.

In December, throughput fell 7.9% to 231,323 TEUs, ending a three-month growth streak.

2025 terminal performance

  • Tobishima South: up 16.5% to 289,731 TEUs

  • Tobishima South Side: up 8.3% to 627,658 TEUs

  • Nabeta Pier: up 3.9% to 1.14 million TEUs

Declines were recorded at:

  • Tobishima North: down 5.8% to 81,124 TEUs

  • NCB Terminal: down 13.4% to 495,604 TEUs

December terminal performance

  • Tobishima South: up 24.1% to 27,968 TEUs

  • Nabeta Pier: up 0.3% to 101,527 TEUs

Declines:

  • Tobishima North: down 12.3% to 7,654 TEUs

  • NCB Terminal: down 21.4% to 42,897 TEUs

  • Tobishima South Side: down 20.1% to 51,277 TEUs

Nagoya closed 2025 with steady annual growth, despite a weaker finish in December.
