Oceangoing container throughput at the Port of Nagoya increased by 6.7% year on year in November, reaching 225,150 TEUs, according to preliminary data from the Nagoya Port Authority and as Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA) reported. This marked the second consecutive month of annual growth.
Several terminals recorded strong gains. Throughput at Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal surged 27% to 52,845 TEUs, while Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal rose 24.4% to 23,634 TEUs. Nabeta Pier Container Terminal also posted solid growth, handling 104,687 TEUs, up 8%. Volumes at Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal edged up 2.4% to 6,997 TEUs.
In contrast, traffic at the NCB Container Terminal fell sharply, dropping 20.6% to 36,987 TEUs.
For the first 11 months of the year, Nagoya handled a total of 2.41 million TEUs, representing a 3% increase compared with the same period last year. Strong growth was recorded at Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal and Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal, while volumes declined at Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal.
