MSC is enhancing its Southern African network to bolster trade with Europe and other global regions.
The firm announced updates to its NWC to South Africa service and the introduction of two new shuttle services:
- NWC to South Africa Service: Now offering direct connections between North Europe, South Africa, and Namibia, including a new direct call to Walvis Bay.
- Namibia Express: This service connects Cape Town (South Africa) and Walvis Bay (Namibia), enabling cargo delivery from across Europe to Namibia via transshipment through Cape Town.
- Mozambique Shuttle: Linking Walvis Bay (Namibia), Maputo, and Beira (Mozambique), with extended reach to Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) and Mombasa (Kenya). Walvis Bay serves as a transshipment hub for cargo destined for Maputo and Beira.
With Walvis Bay as MSC’s new transshipment hub on Southern Africa’s West Coast, the movement of goods from Europe via the NWC to South Africa service becomes more streamlined. Additionally, MSC is strengthening its intra-Africa network within the region.
NWC to South Africa Service
The revised port rotation begins with the “MSC Rosaria”, departing from London Gateway on 20 January 2025:
London Gateway (United Kingdom) – Bremerhaven (Germany) – Rotterdam (Netherlands) – Antwerp (Belgium) – Le Havre (France) – Sines (Portugal) – Las Palmas (Spain) – Walvis Bay (Namibia) – Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) – Durban (South Africa) – Cape Town (South Africa) – Las Palmas (Spain) – London Gateway (United Kingdom).
Namibia Express
The inaugural voyage of the MSC Himanshi III will depart from Cape Town (South Africa) on 08 January 2025, with an expected arrival at Walvis Bay (Namibia) on 11 January 2025.
Port Rotation:
Cape Town (South Africa) – Walvis Bay (Namibia) – Cape Town (South Africa).
Mozambique Shuttle
The first voyage of the MSC Imma III will depart from Beira (Mozambique) on 14 January 2025, with an expected arrival at Walvis Bay (Namibia) on 24 January 2025.
Port Rotation:
Beira (Mozambique) – Walvis Bay (Namibia) – Durban (South Africa) – Maputo (Mozambique) – Mombasa (Kenya) – Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) – Beira (Mozambique).
