The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and RINA have executed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a technology demonstration centre and collaborate on maritime innovation, digitalisation, decarbonisation, and talent development initiatives.
The technology demonstration centre will form part of RINA’s Open Innovation Hub in Singapore, serving as a collaborative platform to co-create and trial innovative solutions for maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation.
The centre will support development of remote and smart maritime systems, providing integrated platforms to validate new technologies and accelerate their deployment in operational environments.
The partnership will strengthen collaboration with Singapore’s research ecosystem, accelerating adoption of technologies including smart ships, low-carbon marine fuels, battery systems, and digital ports.
RINA will collaborate with MPA to support maritime workforce development in Singapore through participation in industry manpower programmes and provision of education, training, internship, and scholarship opportunities.
Mr Ang Wee Keong, Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, stated the MoU with RINA marks an important advancement in strengthening Singapore’s maritime innovation ecosystem.
Mr Carlo Luzzatto, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of RINA, commented that by embracing an open approach with Singapore’s ecosystem, they aim to create value for its maritime sector and beyond.
