Houston-based offshore contractor McDermott has secured a subsea contract from Petronas Carigali for engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of a natural gas development project offshore Brunei.
The award follows McDermott’s successful completion of front-end engineering design, engineering optimisation, and readiness planning for the project.
Under the contract scope, McDermott will provide EPCIC services for a subsea production system and associated infrastructure, including umbilicals, risers and flowlines, which will connect six wells to a floating production unit for natural gas recovery.
The company will also deliver EPCIC services for a gas export pipeline that will supply feedstock to Brunei’s liquefied natural gas sector.
Project management will be led from McDermott’s engineering centre of excellence in Kuala Lumpur, supported by teams across other offices and project sites.
This contract closely follows Malaysia’s MISC receiving a letter of award from Petronas Carigali for the provision of an FPSO unit for the project.
The Kelidang project, where both MISC and McDermott will be working on, is an offshore gas development located roughly 125 km offshore Brunei. It comprises three principal discoveries – Kelidang North East, Keratau, and Keratau South West.
The project is led by Petronas as the operator, with collaboration from Shell and Brunei National Petroleum Company.
