Japan’s Lepta Shipping has added to its orderbook at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, contracting two midsize LPG carriers.
Newbuilding sources said the 48,000 cu m pair will deliver in 2028 at an undisclosed price. The order follows separate deals at Yangzi Mitsui, where Lepta had earlier signed up for a series of 40,000 cu m LPG carriers priced at around $67m apiece.
The Tokyo-based owner has emerged as a consistent customer for the Chinese group, spreading orders across different vessel types. Shipbuilding databases list Lepta with nearly 50 ships under construction, with the Yangzijiang Group, spanning LPG carriers, boxships, capesizes, kamsarmaxes and MR tankers.
In a separate move in China’s gas sector, Nanjing Tanker has been linked to an order for a single 9,500 cu m LPG carrier at China Merchants Jinling, with delivery set for 2028.
