Top Ocean Carriers Collaborate on New Asia-East Coast South America Service

CMA CGM, COSCO, OOCL, Evergreen, and PIL are teaming up to introduce a new service linking vital ports in Asia with the East Coast of South America.

Scheduled to launch in May, this joint initiative aims to enhance connectivity and efficiency on the Asia-Latin America trade route.

The service will consist of two separate loops, with the first loop deploying 12 container ships boasting capacities of up to 14,000 TEUs. Departing from Tianjin on May 5th, the rotation of the first loop will cover key ports such as Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Paranagua, Itapoa, Navegantes, Santos (SBG), Colombo, Singapore, Hong Kong, before returning to Tianjin.

The second loop will start on 10 May from the port of Shanghai and the box lines will deploy a total of 13 vessels on the following rotation:

Shanghai – Ningbo – Yantian – Hong Kong – Rio de Janeiro – Santos – Navegantes – Montevideo – Buenos Aires – Paranagua – Santos – Singapore – Hong Kong – Shanghai

PIL’s General Manager for Long Haul Trade in the Line Management Division, William Ho, stated, “Given the promising growth outlook for the Latin America market, we’ve observed robust trade activity between Asia and Latin America. Expanding our footprint in West Coast South America, we aim to bolster our presence in East Coast South America to enhance connectivity and cater to our customers’ needs more effectively.”
