Laude Smart Intermodal and Loconi Intermodal have launched a new rail connection from the Baltic Hub terminal in Gdańsk to Ukraine.

The service runs in cooperation with a Ukrainian partner and rail operator PKP LHS. It uses Laude’s intermodal terminal in Zamość as the main transfer hub. The facility sits on Poland’s broad-gauge railway and links directly with Ukraine’s rail network.

The launch strengthens Poland’s role as a key logistics gateway for Ukraine. Polish ports handle about 3.9 million TEUs a year. Around 8% of that volume moves to or from Ukraine.

The new trains can carry up to 88 TEUs per trip. Transit time from Gdańsk to Ukraine is about five days. The route offers a competitive alternative to other transport corridors.

Laude said the service expands access to the Baltic ports and deepens trade links with Ukraine. The company added that the project marks the first step in a wider partnership with Loconi.

Loconi said the route fits its strategy to grow across Central and Eastern Europe. The company pointed to its Polish network and experience as key strengths behind the launch.

PKP LHS said the Zamość terminal and broad-gauge line enable fast and flexible connections with Ukraine. The rail operator added that international freight remains a core focus.

All partners said they see strong potential to expand the route. They added that the project shows how cooperation can deliver new logistics solutions for the region.
