Kongsberg Maritime has won a major contract with Sea1 Offshore. The deal covers Launch and Recovery Systems for four new offshore construction vessels.

Each vessel will receive two advanced LARS units. The systems will support subsea construction and ROV operations.

The package includes telescopic A-frames, electric umbilical winches, and energy-efficient hydraulic power units. Kongsberg will also supply a dedicated control system for each vessel.

Each unit offers a safe working load of 15 tonnes. The winches support cable lengths of up to 4,500 metres. This ensures reliable performance in deep-water work.

The contract strengthens Kongsberg Maritime’s role as a leading supplier of offshore handling systems. The company brings decades of experience in delivering safety-critical technology for demanding environments.

Ingar Hovden, Sales Manager at Kongsberg Maritime, said the award reflects strong industry confidence in its systems. He added that the company’s LARS solutions combine proven engineering with modern efficiency features to support safe operations.

Sea1 Offshore said the new systems will improve performance in harsh conditions. The equipment integrates fully with the vessels’ electric power and energy storage systems.

Built for Safety and Efficiency

The LARS units allow controlled launch and recovery, even in rough seas. This reduces risk and improves operability.

The modular design simplifies installation across different vessel types. It also improves durability and cuts downtime.

Energy efficiency is a key feature. The hydraulic power units use frequency control to lower fuel use and emissions. Advanced control software ensures precise and stable handling for complex subsea tasks.
