The KOBC Container Composite Index (KCCI) rose for the second consecutive week, reaching 1,719 points on Monday, according to Korea Ocean Business Corp. (KOBC) and Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA).

Spot rates for container exports from Busan increased on most major trade routes, except to the east coast of Latin America and West Africa. The index climbed 1.24% from the previous week.

On major lanes, rates rose across the board. The KCCI reached 2,019 points to the U.S. West Coast (up 2.5%), 2,981 points to the U.S. East Coast (up 1.91%), 1,972 points to Europe (up 0.87%), and 2,327 points to the Mediterranean (up 4.26%).

On non-main routes, rates fell slightly to the east coast of Latin America (down 0.43% to 2,994 points) and West Africa (down 0.5% to 3,557 points). However, they rose to Australia (up 0.55% to 2,543 points), the west coast of Latin America (up 2.31% to 2,388 points), and Southern Africa (up 0.75% to 3,763 points).

Within Asia, rates increased modestly to Southeast Asia (up 0.36% to 836 points) and remained steady to China (49 points) and Japan (210 points).

KOBC releases both the comprehensive and individual KCCIs for container exports from Busan to 13 major destinations, including the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The composite index reflects a weighted average of these lanes, accounting for terminal handling and other related charges.
