KCCI falls 1.6% as Busan export rates weaken

According to Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA), the KOBC Container Composite Index (KCCI) dropped 1.6% to 1,909 points on Monday, Korea Ocean Business Corp. (KOBC) announced. Unfavorable fluctuations hit container export rates from Busan across multiple trade lanes.

Main routes showed mixed performance. Rates to the U.S. West Coast climbed 1.19% to US$1,871 per FEU. The U.S. East Coast rose 0.83% to US$2,923 per FEU. Europe saw a sharp 5.79% decline to US$3,797 per FEU. Mediterranean routes fell 2.69% to US$2,931 per FEU.

Non-main lanes had varied results. Latin America’s west coast gained 2.78% to US$3,036 per FEU. Australia jumped 3.52% to US$2,439 per FEU. Southern Africa slipped 0.12% to US$4,027 per FEU. The Middle East dipped 0.38% to US$2,366 per FEU. West Africa fell 1.15% to US$4,293 per FEU. Latin America’s east coast plummeted 9.68% to US$3,685 per FEU.

Intra-Asia trade held steady at US$50 per FEU to China. Japan rates dropped 0.46% to US$218 per FEU. Southeast Asia declined 1.04% to US$947 per FEU.
