Kalmar officially launched the Kalmar Ottawa Electric Terminal Tractor (OT2 EV) sales at the Technology & Maintenance Council’s 2025 Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition in Nashville, Tennessee, US.

As Kalmar Ottawa’s third-generation electric terminal tractor, the OT2 EV is fully designed and manufactured in-house at Kalmar’s Ottawa, Kansas facility. The lineup includes four models—two tailored for container ports and terminals, and two for distribution applications, including an on-road version for North America.

In addition, the OT2 EV has undergone rigorous testing, including 240 hours of climate-controlled performance trials in temperatures ranging from -22°F to 122°F. Over six months of extreme climate charging tests validated its reliability and efficiency across different environments. With CCS1-compatible charging solutions of up to 150kW, the OT2 EV can be fast-charged in under an hour, supporting opportunity charging when needed.

Kalmar’s extensive North American dealer network is fully trained and certified to support the OT2 EV. Dealers completed specialized training for sales and service teams at Kalmar’s Ottawa facility, ensuring top-tier customer support from day one.

Thor Brenden, President, Terminal Tractors, Kalmar: “We have been making every move count in the terminal tractor business for over 65 years. We believe that invention and sustainable innovation go hand-in-hand. Our engineers have evaluated every aspect of how to make the T2 the most efficient machine possible, and that solution was to electrify the current market-leading T2 terminal tractor.”
