Typhoon Kalmaegi, the most lethal tropical storm of the year, has disrupted port operations in the Philippines and Vietnam as it made landfall this week.
Kalmaegi entered the East Sea early on 5 November, after crossing the central Philippines, maintaining maximum sustained winds of 134–149 kph.
The storm intensified to 150–166 kph on 6 November as it neared Vietnam’s south-central coast, stretching from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa, home to Nha Trang.
