ABS has awarded its Cyber Resilience – Existing Vessel (CR-Ex) notation to three Jana Marine Services jack-up barges, JANA 505, 508, and 509, marking an industry first.
The notation applies IACS UR E26 cyber resilience requirements to existing vessels, boosting protection for onboard operational technology and IT systems.
“This is an important achievement for Jana Marine and ABS that advances safety and operational standards in offshore operations,” said Gareth Burton, ABS Vice President of Technology. He stressed the need for stronger cyber defenses as vessel connectivity grows.
Jana Marine CEO Mohamed Alsubaie called the recognition a milestone for the company. “It underscores our commitment to cyber safety, innovation, and operational excellence,” he said.
The CR-Ex notation builds on Jana Marine’s earlier SMART notation, awarded in 2024, and supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of innovation and economic diversification.
