During the 2024–25 financial year (April 2024 – March 2025), India’s government-owned major ports saw a 10% increase in container throughput.

The port of Paradip showed the strongest percentage growth at 108%, although from a relatively small base.

In terms of volume, Nhava Sheva, located near Mumbai, made the largest contribution with an additional 872,000 TEUs handled compared to the previous year. Conversely, the Mumbai port experienced a dramatic drop, losing nearly all of its container traffic.

Meanwhile, Mormugao has been inactive in terms of container handling since 2022.
