Spanish electric utility company Iberdrola has named Pedro Azagra as the group’s new chief executive officer.
Azagra, who until now has held the position of CEO of the company’s USA subsidiary Avangrid, is replacing Armando Martínez.
The incoming CEO has been with Iberdrola for 25 years, first as executive director of development with responsibility for the company’s international expansion, and for the past three years as CEO of Iberdrola’s US subsidiary.
He was also the president of Avangrid Power and Avangrid Networks and currently serves on the board of directors and audit committee of Neoenergia, Iberdrola’s Brazilian arm.
The position of Avangrid’s CEO will be filled by José Antonio Miranda, who is the current CEO of Avangrid Power.
He previously served as CEO of Gamesa in China and the USA. He serves on the board of American Clean Power and is a member of the International Renewable Energy Agency.
