HJ Lubricators has introduced SIP+, the next-generation upgrade of its patented Swirl Injection Principle (SIP) valve for two-stroke marine engines. The new design aims to reduce fuel-oil consumption and minimize retrofit downtime for shipowners.
The redesigned, dual-fuel-ready SIP+ valve eliminates the need for internal liner machining and top-cover removal. This reduces installation time by over a third, allowing retrofits to be completed during normal port stays.
“SIP+ takes a proven technology and makes it faster and easier to install, while maintaining optimal lubrication at low feed rates,” said Mark Kristensen, Head of Sales at HJ Lubricators. “Downtime is one of the biggest hidden costs for fleets, and SIP+ makes upgrades more practical and cost-effective.”
SIP+ retains all advantages of the original SIP design, including uniform oil-film distribution, reduced liner wear, and lower lube-oil consumption. It is compatible with existing lubrication systems and optimized for modern engines, including thin-oil and dual-fuel applications.
Lower lube-oil use reduces operating costs and cuts CO₂ and particle emissions, supporting compliance with stricter environmental regulations. HJ Lubricators estimates a typical payback period of around three years and provides an online calculator for precise savings.
