Harren Group, a leading German shipowner and maritime logistics specialist, has partnered with maritime tech innovator Orca AI to enhance safety and efficiency across its newbuild fleet of heavy-lift, multipurpose, deck carrier, and bulk vessels. The collaboration marks a major step toward a data-driven safety culture within the company.

“Our new Orca vessels already feature ultra-efficient engines and propulsion systems for emission-neutral operations,” said Nils Aden, Managing Director of Harren Group. “By integrating Orca AI, we’re elevating safety and sustainability with technology that enhances awareness, reduces fuel use, and supports smarter navigation.”

The partnership enables Harren Group to measure and improve navigational behaviour based on real data rather than assumptions, strengthening alignment between crews and fleet managers.

Connecting Bridge and Shore

The Orca AI system combines onboard and shore-based technologies. The SeaPod digital lookout provides real-time visual and thermal detection, helping crews identify risks early and avoid close encounters. FleetView, an analytics dashboard, aggregates navigational data for shore offices, offering insights into bridge performance and trends. The system also supports post-voyage reviews and targeted crew training.

“Harren Group represents the next generation of maritime safety leadership,” said Yarden Gross, CEO and Co-founder of Orca AI. “They’re using AI insights and real-world data to create transparent, measurable safety practices.”

Embedding AI in Safety and Sustainability

This initiative embeds AI-powered safety into Harren Group’s fleet operations. By integrating live computer-vision data with navigational systems, the platform enhances situational awareness, predicts risks, and reduces bridge workload. The result is safer, more efficient voyages with lower emissions and smarter decision-making.

“At Harren Group, innovation and responsibility go hand in hand,” said Aden. “Navigating with care protects both our people and our planet.”

Setting a Standard

Gross noted that forward-thinking operators like Harren Group are shaping the future of maritime operations by embracing AI, transparency, and measurable safety performance as core elements of modern fleet management.
