Hapag-Lloyd is introducing a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for cargo transported from the Far East to the Upper Gulf, Persian Gulf, and Arabian Gulf. This surcharge will be effective for sailings departing from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan starting March 6, 2026, and will continue until further notice. The PSS is set at USD 500 per 20-foot container and USD 1,000 per 40-foot container. This applies to bookings made on or after March 6, and also to existing bookings that have not yet departed for destinations including Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia (Dammam and Jubail). This also covers cargo transiting through Jebel Ali to the Red Sea, Pakistan, and Sokhna. The sea freight payer will be responsible for this additional charge.
