Two Greek shipbrokers – Intermodal and Golden Destiny – have merged, the latest in a series of consolidation moves for the broking sector.
“This collaboration is beyond an operational consolidation, as like-minded seasoned professionals with a great depth of know-how and network are joining forces to improve on the level of service, adapting to the changes in the industry as dictated by the market forces,” said Golden Destiny founder Michail Kokkinis.
Golden Destiny’s staff have already moved into Intermodal’s offices.
Broking houses have gone through extensive mergers over the past decade, a period of time which has seen ICAP Shipping and Howe Robinson come together, Clarksons buying RS Platou, Simpson Spence Young acquiring Anchor Shipbroking, Braemar and ACM Shipping link up, and IFCHOR and Galbraiths merge among a host of other deals.
