Global transport and logistics company GEODIS has introduced a new fleet of eleven Euro 4 and Euro 6 biofuel-powered trucks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This initiative highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while maintaining operational efficiency and delivering sustainable solutions to its customers.

GEODIS has set ambitious sustainability goals, aiming for a 42% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its vehicle fleets and facilities (Scopes 1 and 2) and a 25% decrease in the carbon intensity of subcontracted container shipping, road, and rail operations (Scope 3) by 2030, using 2022 as the baseline.

Meanwhile, the UAE initiative aligns with the company’s broader strategy, following a science-based approach (Science-Based Targets—SBT) to support the Paris Agreement’s objective of limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

The newly deployed fleet includes two ten-ton and six six-ton trucks, along with three fifty-foot tractor-trailers, all running on biofuel, which emits significantly less CO2 compared to diesel. These vehicles will cater to customers across the high-tech, retail, pharmaceutical, automotive, and industrial sectors, facilitating freight transportation services between airports, warehouses, and retail stores throughout the Middle East.

Chris Cahill, Managing Director, GEODIS Middle East and India Subcontinent, mentioned: “Relying on a new fleet of trucks is a critical component of our growth strategy for the Middle East region. This initiative not only underscores our commitment to sustainability but also enhances our capacity to meet the evolving needs of our customers. By integrating sustainable transportation and technologies into our operations, we are positioning GEODIS as a leader in responsible logistics and paving the way for future growth and innovation in the region.”

In recent years, GEODIS has significantly expanded its presence in the Middle East, establishing operations in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain. The company provides comprehensive end-to-end supply chain solutions, including freight services, customs brokerage, contract logistics, and project logistics across these countries.
