The first TCT turbocharger built under licence in Japan has rolled off the production line at the MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd. Tamano factory. The TCT40 unit, produced under licence from Everllence, marks a milestone in the companies’ four-decade partnership.

The ceremony was attended by Ichiro Tanaka, Director of MITSUI E&S, and Dr. Daniel Struckmeier, Managing Director of Everllence Japan Ltd. and Head of Sales for License Turbocharger & Exhaust Gas Treatment APAC.

MITSUI E&S, one of the world’s largest builders of marine two-stroke engines, has been an Everllence licensee since 1981. The company plans to expand production to other TCT models over time, with turbochargers to be installed on MITSUI-manufactured Everllence two-stroke engines.

“This is a great pleasure and an important step forward for our collaboration,” said Tanaka. “We appreciate our long-standing partnership and look forward to continued success.”

Dr. Struckmeier added: “Local production builds trust, shortens delivery times, and meets market expectations. This milestone strengthens MITSUI’s position in the two-stroke segment while showcasing the innovation behind the TCT series.”

Lastly, launched in 2019, the TCT turbocharger series features a new radial compressor and axial turbine design. Also, offers high efficiency, low noise, and compact construction. Designed for two-stroke engines from 5.5 MW to 24 MW, the TCT range supports a variety of fuel types and IMO Tier III-compliant after-treatment systems.
