Responding to a distress call, the Indian Navy dispatched the stealth frigate INS Tabar, currently deployed in the region, to render assistance. All 14 crewmembers onboard the tanker, all Indian nationals, were safely rescued.
According to a statement from the Indian Navy, its firefighting team, along with some of the ship’s crew, managed to bring the fire under control. The firefighting operation involved 13 Indian naval personnel and 5 of the tanker’s crew.
