EVE Energy has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Green Whale Technology (GWT) to expand the global use of marine battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The two companies will deliver high-performance battery systems and lifecycle services to shipowners, operators, and shipyards worldwide. The partnership combines EVE Energy’s lithium battery technology with GWT’s marine engineering, commissioning, and service capabilities.

The alliance will launch a DNV-certified marine battery system with an expected service life of up to 15 years. The companies say the longer lifespan will significantly reduce operating costs for owners and improve system reliability.

EVE and GWT are not starting from zero. The companies already delivered the first BV-classed marine battery container ever built in Asia. The new agreement expands that cooperation and formalises long-term technical and commercial support from both sides.

One key feature is EVE’s active balancing technology, which the companies say allows the batteries to operate for up to 15 years. That exceeds the typical lifespan of LFP systems currently in the market.

The partnership also targets high-power maritime applications. EVE says it is the only supplier offering continuous 3C LFP marine batteries. These systems provide high output while offering longer life than NMC-based alternatives in many uses.

The companies believe a combination of large-scale manufacturing, LFP chemistry, cost efficiency, maritime design expertise, and global service access will make the system highly competitive.

Godfrey Wang, CEO of Green Whale Technology, said the agreement strengthens GWT’s ability to deliver full lifecycle solutions worldwide and described the cooperation as a major step for the young company.

To support customers in Europe and beyond, GWT is launching a cloud service platform based in the Netherlands. The system is designed to meet EU data requirements and reduce geopolitical risk. The company will also maintain spare-parts hubs in Norway and the Netherlands to speed up after-sales support.

The partnership includes joint research and development programs to improve performance and expand product offerings.

EVE Energy brings scale to the partnership. The company said its ESS production capacity exceeds 10 MWh per day. It also said the 3C marine battery system is priced below USD 300 per kWh, which it considers unusually low for the current market.

Yong Cong Xiong, Head of Marine & Port at EVE Energy, said the partnership covers development, manufacturing, delivery, and service. He said the goal is to offer long-life battery systems with global support and strong local service.
