A delegation from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) inspected Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA) from 18 February to 21 February 2025 to assess the implementation of security measures and procedures at the second-largest Greek port in compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code).

The nine-member delegation, composed of European inspectors highly trained in port facility and maritime security, carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the security equipment, measures, and procedures in place at the Port Facility and the broader Commercial Port of Thessaloniki.

This inspection was conducted in the presence of the Director and senior officials from the Directorate of Ship and Port Facilities Security Management (DEDAPLE) of Greece’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy.

Following the inspection, the head of the delegation presented the findings, which were highly satisfactory. The results highlighted that ThPA SA implements best practices at the European level, demonstrating a strong alignment with security requirements.

This achievement is attributed to the company’s highly skilled security personnel and the robust central administrative support provided by the competent Directorate (DEDAPLE) of the Greek Ministry.

“The results of the security inspection are a proof of the continuous and practical efforts of ThPA S.A. to ensure the exemplary operation of the Port of Thessaloniki at an international level, in terms of providing quality port services of high levels of safety & security,” stated Dr. Ioannis Tsaras, CEO of ThPA SA.
