Greek bulker player DryDel Shipping is moving into the capsize sector through a newbuilding deal in Japan.
The Costas Dellaportas-led company has ordered a pair of scrubber-fitted 182,000 dwt vessels at Namura Shipbuilding with delivery set for 2028.
Financial details were not given, but DryDel said the new project is a joint venture with one of its Japanese partners and that both capes would be commercially and technically managed by the company.
The Athens-based outfit had previously ordered four handysize bulkers at Namura. The latest move lifts the company’s orderbook to 10 ships delivering over the next four years.
DryDel contracted its first ultramax newbuild since changing its name from Meadway Shipping and Trading at Shin Kurushima Dockyard in June, followed by another ultramax order at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding in July.
