DP World is introducing a new shipping route, “Atlas,” connecting Agadir and Casablanca in Morocco with London Gateway and Antwerp Gateway. The service, starting in November 2025, will cut export times for fruit and vegetable shipments to the UK by up to two days, helping retailers and consumers receive fresher produce at a lower cost.
The service uses two dedicated vessels and DP World-owned terminals, moving up to 150,000 tonnes of fresh produce per year from road to sea. This reduces carbon emissions by 70% compared to traditional trucking, while avoiding congestion, delays at border crossings, and road-related damage to delicate produce like tomatoes and blueberries.
DP World has invested in 1,250 modern reefers, plus 1,000 4’ high-cube and 750 20’ dry containers to support growing demand. The service also provides full end-to-end visibility through DP World’s CARGOES digital platform.
Rashid Abdulla, CEO of DP World Europe, said: “The key elements of this service—reliability, fast transit times, and modern IT—offer exporters and retailers a strong alternative to trucking. We can deliver better quality produce, faster, and with lower emissions.”
Morocco exports over 6.5 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables annually to Western Europe, growing at more than 20% per year. The new Atlas service aims to strengthen trade flows while supporting sustainable logistics and helping customers meet their environmental goals.
DP World will officially launch the service at an event in Agadir on 18 September 2025.
