DP World Boosts Rail Network with Second London Gateway-Southampton Service
DP World is enhancing its rail capacity between two of the UK's major container ports by introducing a second weekly rail service. This new service will connect the London Gateway and Southampton logistics hubs, a strategic initiative designed to bolster the UK's supply chain resilience and significantly reduce carbon emissions by eliminating over one million truck miles annually. The mid-week rail service, operated by Freightliner, is scheduled to commence on October 1st. It will work in tandem with the existing weekend service, providing customers with improved access to the comprehensive storage, handling, freight forwarding, and delivery services offered at London Gateway Logistics Park. This park is the largest port-adjacent logistics facility in the UK, boasting 9.25 million square feet of gross floor space.
