Japan’s Doun Kisen has boosted its bulk carrier orderbook in China with four additional newbuilds.
Multiple broking outfits report the diversified shipowner has returned to Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering for a pair of kamsarmax and ultramax vessels each.
The 82,000 dwt and 63,500 dwt units, costing about $37.3m and $35.3m, respectively are expected for delivery in 2027.
Doun Kisen already has similar vessels booked for construction at the same yard late last year for delivery in 2025 and 2026. The company is listed on VesselsValue with around 140 ships and an average fleet age of six years.
