Greek owner Diana Shipping has secured a strong fixture with SwissMarine for one of its capesize bulkers, locking in a daily rate well above its previous employment.
The 2015-built, 180,960 dwt New Orleans has been fixed at $26,000 per day, minus a 5% commission to third parties. The charter will run from October 28, 2025, until at least December 1, 2026, with options extending to February 15, 2027.
The new deal replaces the vessel’s current charter with K Line, which was earning $20,000 per day. Diana said the latest employment is expected to generate about $10.2m in gross revenue for the minimum period.
The improved rate reflects the firmer outlook for the larger bulker segment heading into late 2025. The New York-listed company currently counts four newcastlemaxes and eight capes in its 36-strong fleet.
