Greek bulker owner Diana Shipping has entered into a time charter contract with Swiss-based agribusiness firm Bunge for one of its ultramax vessels.
The company hired the 2015-built, 60,309 dwt bulker DSI Aquila. The gross charter rate is $14,000 per day for a period of a minimum of February 25, 2027, up to a maximum of April 25, 2027. The charter is set to begin on October 12, 2025.
The vessel is chartered to Western Bulk Carriers at a gross charter rate of $12,250 per day, minus a 5.00% commission paid to third parties.
The employment of the vessel is anticipated to generate approximately $7.15m of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter.
Diana Shipping’s fleet consists of 36 dry bulk vessels – four newcastlemaxes, eight capesizes, four post-panamaxes, six kamsarmaxes, five panamaxes, and nine ultramaxes.
The company also expects to take delivery of two methanol dual-fuel newbuilding kamsarmax bulkers by the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028, respectively.
Currently, the combined carrying capacity of the fleet, excluding the two vessels not yet delivered, is approximately 4.1m dwt with a weighted average age of 11.85 years.
