Damen Shipyards Group delivered three new tugs to the Fairplay Towage Group. The vessels include the RSD Tug 2513 Fairplay-98 and two ASD Tugs 2312, Fairplay-86 and Fairplay-87. One ASD Tug 2312 was delivered to Louis Meyer and joined Fairplay’s fleet on a long-term bareboat charter.
The tugs arrived in Hamburg aboard the HLV UHL Finesse from Damen’s yards in China and Vietnam. Damen uses this method to ensure vessels arrive in pristine condition.
The tugs feature Damen’s Marine NOX Reduction System. It cuts noise to 45 dB(A) and lowers NOX emissions by 80%, meeting IMO Tier III standards. Additional options include LNG and winterisation packages and FiFi-1 firefighting capabilities.
Damen will support the vessels from its Hamburg Service Hub. Services include maintenance, emergency response, spare parts, and training for clients in Germany, Poland, and the Baltics.
Joschka Böddeling, Damen Sales Manager for Germany, noted the vessels were delivered within nine months of contract signing. Fairplay and Louis Meyer praised the tugs’ versatility, efficiency, and Damen’s reliable service.
The new tugs will boost operational efficiency, fleet commonality, and sustainable performance for Fairplay Towage and its partners.
