Damen Shipyards Group delivered an ASD Tug 2111, named Argo, to WUZ Port and Maritime Services in Rotterdam. This is the eighth Damen tug in WUZ’s fleet.

WUZ is expanding its fleet to support the development of the Port of Gdansk. The company now operates 18 vessels and various Damen tug models, making it Poland’s largest towage company.

Władysław Labuda, Technical Manager at WUZ Port and Maritime Services

The ASD 2111 is part of Damen’s Compact Tugs series. It measures 21 metres and delivers up to 50 tonnes of bollard pull, making it ideal for inner harbour operations.

The vessel was built at Damen Shipyards Changde in China, after a contract signed in September 2024. Damen customised it to meet WUZ’s specific needs. Before handover in Rotterdam, the tug’s capabilities were tested and showcased alongside a fully electric RSD-E 2513 Tug.

Following tradition, the tug is named after Greek mythology. Argo was the ship of Jason and the Argonauts.

Vadim Akimov, Damen Sales Director

Damen Sales Director Vadim Akimov said: “We were honored to celebrate the handover in Rotterdam. We are confident that Argo will support WUZ’s growth in Gdansk and look forward to continuing our strong partnership.”
