Belgium’s CMB.TECH has pushed ahead with its fleet renewal strategy, confirming disposals in wet and dry secondhand markets, while adding new tonnage across multiple segments.
The Antwerp-based shipowner confirmed the sale of the 2007-built 306,543 dwt VLCC Dalma for a reported $48m after passing dry dock. The deal, which follows the disposal of three VLCCs in April, is expected to generate a capital gain of $26.7m, with delivery to the new owner scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.
Earlier this year, CMB.TECH also sold the 2010-built suezmax Sofia for a net price of $40.1m, booking an estimated gain of $20.4m.
In dry bulk, its Bocimar subsidiary has sold the 2009-built 169,390 dwt capesize Battersea for around $24.8m, earning $2.4m in capital gains. Shipbrokers said sister ship Belgravia has also been sold, reportedly to Swiss trading house Mercuria, at a similar price.
On the renewal side, the company has taken delivery of five newbuildings during the third and fourth quarters so far, including two eco-newcastlemaxes, along with one chemical tanker, a crew transfer vessel, and a commissioning service vessel.
The Alex Saverys-led company, with a diversified fleet of around 250 vessels, has also been active in the charter market. CMB.TECH has extended the charter of the 2016-built VLCC Donoussa for another 11 months, running through October 2026.
