CMA CGM has advised customers of new measures from New Zealand authorities aimed at preventing the spread of the brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) during the 2025/26 high-risk season, which runs from September 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026.
Under the rules, cargo subject to BMSB restrictions must be fumigated at origin or at designated transshipment ports, such as Singapore or Port Klang, before entering New Zealand. Fumigation on arrival will not be permitted, and non-compliant cargo will be returned at the shipper’s expense.
The carrier added that any costs or delays to ANL/CMA CGM vessels resulting from non-compliance with fumigation rules will be charged to the customer.
