CLdN to develop new river berth at Liverpool Port

CLdN will build a new river berth for roll-on/roll-off vessels at the Port of Liverpool. The project is in partnership with Peel Ports Group. It represents a multi-million-pound investment in the Irish Sea market.

The berth will be lock-free and sit next to CLdN’s facilities at Brocklebank and Langton Dock. It will handle larger ships and higher cargo volumes than the current terminal.

CLdN plans to submit a consent application in the second half of 2026. Construction could start in early 2028.

The company recently upgraded Brocklebank Dock. This allows bigger, greener vessels on the Liverpool-Dublin route. CLdN carries over 200,000 freight units on this route each year.

CEO Florent Maes said the berth will boost efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint per unit. “This project shows our long-term commitment to port development and freight services between Britain and Ireland,” he said.

Peel Ports CEO Claudio Veritiero said the project will drive regional growth, create skilled jobs, and expand trade. “CLdN’s investment is a strong vote of confidence in Liverpool’s future,” he added.
