Taiwan’s Chailease Holdings has placed an order for ultramax bulk carriers at Chinese builder New Dayang.
Through its shipowning subsidiaries, the Taipei-based finance outfit and owner contracted for two Crown 63 Plus design vessels at $35m each with expected delivery in 2028.
Chailease is the second Taiwanese owner to book New Dayang ultramax newbuilds after dry bulk player U-Ming Marine Transport earlier this year.
New Dayang, which state-run machinery manufacturer Sumec Group took over in 2018, has secured Crown 63 Plus orders from multiple leasing houses and shipowners, with orderbook currently standing at over 100 vessels.
