BNSF Railway, a leading North American transportation company, announced that Northern Lines Railway (NLR) and Columbia Basin Railroad (CBRW) have joined its Shortline Select
program.
Launched in fall 2024, Shortline Select connects shortlines with BNSF’s 32,500-mile network across 28 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces. The program combines the personalized service of shortlines with BNSF’s reach, offering customers expanded market access.

Shortline Select has already reduced car dwell, improved interchange fluidity, and grown traffic volume. Participants also benefit from BNSF initiatives like Premier Transloads, Certified Sites, operational process improvements, and pre-defined economic arrangements to respond quickly to customer rate requests.
