Oilfield services giant Baker Hughes has signed a multi-year agreement with Petrobras to extend the deployment of two stimulation vessels.
The award, which followed an open tender, also includes the provision of associated chemicals and services.
The 2008-built Blue Marlin and the 2013-built Blue Orca will deliver advanced chemical treatments to stimulate wells, maximising production in both brownfield and greenfield developments across multiple basins. The vessels will also support well construction through gravel pack and frac pack operations.
This agreement extends the deployment of the Blue Marlin and Blue Orca with Petrobras, as they have operated in Brazil since 2008 and 2023, respectively. The current contract for the vessels was supposed to keep the vessels busy until April 2027. The new deal will reportedly extend the stay into 2032.
“[The vessels] have long histories in Brazil, and the unmatched experience, expertise and capabilities of the vessels and their crews have helped Petrobras make the country’s pre-salt fields among the most productive in the world,” said Amerino Gatti, executive vice president, Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes.
